Jackson Hole- Yellowstone Park- Silver Gate ( Cooke City) 201 Miles

We woke up thinking to have a nice day ( from the weather point of view ) and have the possibility to visit the Park slowly ,enjoying the warm sun that was with us yesterday . We opened the curtains and ............damn`d !!!!!! It was raining . Do you know that thin rain that can continue for hours ???? Exactly that one . We didn`t to get depressed and we dressed properly to go to the park despite the bad conditions ( even the guy on the below picture it was dispppointed about the rain ) .

Unfortunately , on the way to the park ( in the mean time the rain became stronger ) we have foud 11 miles of road works that force us to drive on a dirty road with a very slippery mud . The mud and the rain made the ride very tough !

Thanks God, around noon the clouds disappeared and a fantastic blue sky with a vivid sun were finally above us

Under the sunlight the colours of the park changed and finally we can appreciate the beauty of the enviroment .

The valley of the Yellowstone river , is something unique and it`s difficult for me to describe the feeling I have had looking down . Sometimes I though that I was riding inside a painting .

Around 4.30 pm the rain arrive again ! We rode away hoping to do not get wet but it`s been impossible and again , Road works : the meaning was MUD again and a very difficult time to ride . Under a very dark grey sky , we finally arrived after almost an hour at the North East Entrance of the park and few mls later we entered in a tiny village called Silver Gate where we have found a lodge where to spend the night . The lodge : do you guys remember Shining with the great Jack ?

The lodge gave me the same feeling but we had no other choice . I didn`t say anything to Olly even when he said after we walked in : Dad , don`t you think that this building it looks like one of those that you see in a horror movie?

At the end the lodge it was great and we had an amazing dinner at the only restaurant there .

The only shining thing we have found this morning it was the sun .
